You could assume Jesus was in favour of slavery, course you'd have to ignore everything he said and stood for but yes, you could assume he was for slavery.

Jesus didnt mention anything about Slavery, he either swerved the whole thing or people chose not to report what he said...either way Slavers got the green light.

Im not taking the piss out of a belief in God, he lives in California and goes by the name of Bill. I met him once and got his autograph, true story.

Racism isnt even natural in humans, children arent racist, they learn it from bigoted parents.

Anyway, that was just a little aside. What we've got here is a case of people taking the piss out of belief in God, presumably because it is unscientific, and then ignoring the science that conflicts with a major tenet of their own faith, in this case that humans appear to be born with racist tendencies.

So God made us racist by default then insists we mustn't be, bit of a card isn't he?

Actually the God of Abraham was all down with slavery too...and as Jesus came 'not to take from the law but to add to it' We can only assume he was happy with the whole slavery thing.

He's more than a card, and it does begin with C.

Actually not true.

Early man and early society depended on all people working together from all tribes/Groups and it didnt matter a what colour their tribe were.

Google will help you out.

Being born racist was an aid to survival. Other grous were often interested in terminating your bloodline so best to keep away from them if it can be helped. A glance at human history suggests that this is the case too. We're lucky that 9ur European ancestors adopted Christianity as our worldview with its commandment that all people are equal in the eyes of God and its reminder that we all can trace our ancestry back to one common ancestor.

Re: New leader of the opposition?

I think the latest evidence suggests that we are born racist and that social conditioning and norms leadlead us to reject it. Or not.

There are polish running their own subcontracts on building sites employing only their own. Corbyn won't stop that. They just ignore it.

Re: New leader of the opposition?
Neil you are saying they are racist but no one is born a racist, it is. learned and can therefore be unlearned.

As it is learned we have to ask how and then challenge those channels.

neilalex 4:17 Sun Jul 24
Re: New leader of the opposition?
Debs - it isn't fear mongering. You're taking the classic 'right on' view that people like yourself often take when faced with an unpalatable truth about the political views of the average working class person. Somehow, they don't really mean it, it's down to 'scare mongering' 'the Tory Press' or somesuch.

I've news for you, you can't wish this away. A lot of working class people genuinely fucking hate the idea of a loose immigration policy. A lot of working class people are fairly racist. A lot of working class people like the idea, however uninformed their views might be, that Britain has nuclear weapons.

These are things that will make them vote Tory or UKIP. They are much more concerned about these things than they are about discrimination in the workplace.

Darlo Debs 4:07 Sun Jul 24
Re: New leader of the opposition?
That makes no sense neil. They will only think that way on basis of perception stirred up by fear mongering.

However one thing i massively agree on is that for too long Labour have taken its core voters for granted. There have been two elections and a referendum here since i moved up and not once have we been canvassed at the door or in the street.

There is a disconnect and a sense that people arent being listened to, Cant allow Labour to turn into UKIP though

Re: New leader of the opposition?
Kronic - my point would be that they would only champion PC for as long as it helps them get elected. There's very little they actually believe in, hence your comment about Theresa May being Ed Milliband one day and Margaret Thatcher the next.

neilalex 3:53 Sun Jul 24
Re: New leader of the opposition?
Debs, people who are in areas where there hasn't been mass immigration are probably even more likely to be hostile to a party that they perceive will allow it.

Corbyn's great 'policy' offering thus far is to witter on, Dave Spart style, about employers having to publish gender equality audits and similar wank. He believes that discrimination is society's greatest challenge, the fucking half wit. I doubt he's actually spoken to many ordinary bods from Sunderland.

I make you wrong there, the Tories have been the champions of political correctness for a long time now.
